More than just real estate

Hit the decks on a scenic Milwaukee boat cruise

Jennifer Lindauer is a real estate agent and part of The Roden/Lindauer Team in Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage’s Mequon office. Jennifer shares yet another fun idea for a staycation in Southeast Wisconsin. Today, she talks about a fantastic way to see the city: taking it all in during a scenic boat cruise.

The Milwaukee area is a wonderful place to live and I think most of us don’t realize what this great city has to offer. Get your sea legs ready for this latest addition to our summer “staycation” ideas!

The fun you can have on the Milwaukee River and Lake Michigan is endless! There are many boat tours, rentals and fishing charters that you can take advantage of.

We will start with the excursion level of boating. The Iroquois and Voyageur are two modern yachts that are approved to cruise the Milwaukee River, Harbor and Lake Michigan. They set sail daily May through September and have public and private cruises. There are many types of cruises available for whatever mood you may be in. The vessels offer sightseeing, concerts, historical tours, parties, happy hour, school, brunch, lunch, dinner and special events cruises.  The Voyageur can even be chartered for cruises from Chicago to Green Bay! Tickets are very reasonable starting at $5 for adults. Check out their website for more information.

Next, many of you may have heard of the infamous tours on the Edelweiss boats. There are many possibilities of fun on these unique style cruise lines. Again, there are many different cruises to choose from to make your “staycation” a great one. Some interesting cruise picks could be fiesta, late night party, cheese & wine, beer & brat, Pirates, Halloween and many more!

I think what most people don’t know about Edelweiss boat lines are that they also offer pontoon rentals. The pontoons are available for rental by the hour and can hold up to 12 passengers. You can choose to have a captain or self-captain the boat. Pontoons would be a great idea for the fireworks, bachelor/bachelorette parties, family outings and so much more!

For those of you that enjoy a cold beverage on a hot summer day, the next boat tour is for you. Riverwalk Boat Tours offer daily themed cruises, weekend brewery tours and Horny Goat Brewery tours.

There are daily themed sunset cruises. Enjoy yourself on any of these exciting cruises: Margarita Mondays, Tiki Tuesdays, Wild West Wednesdays, Thirsty Thursdays, Funky Fridays, Social Saturdays and Sunday Bloody Mary. All cruises include food and beverages and a souvenir cup. There are two cruises available a night. Prices are very reasonable.

Want to taste the beers that the local microbreweries have to offer? Why not visit three of them at once and have a nice boat ride at the same time? Riverwalk Boat Tours has weekend brewery tours that makes stops at The Lakefront Brewery, Milwaukee Ale House and Rock Bottom Brewery. The tour is $29/person and all tickets must be pre-purchased. Allow 4 hours to tour all three breweries and taste the essence of each one.

Haven’t been to the Horny Goat Brewery yet? Here is a thrilling way to spend your day: Start your tour by getting a beer and heading out to the patio. You can decide to relax or play volleyball or a game of cornhole. During the summer, live music is there to stir up the excitement. Once you have thrilled yourself with that, it’s off to the boat for an hour-long cruise on Lake Michigan. Beer and food is included! Tickets for this tour are also required to be purchased ahead of time and are only $25/person.

I hope you have enjoyed the latest in “staycation” ideas for Milwaukee. Have a safe and superb summer!
