More than just real estate

Exploring the Ozaukee Interurban Trail (part 1)

Southeast Wisconsin is full of hidden gems for recreation, exercise and fun. Since spring is in the air and most of us want to spend every sunny moment we can outdoors, make the most of it and look into local parks, trails and paths you may not have noticed before. In the coming weeks, Buffy Godfrey, an agent in the Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage Mequon office, will guide the readers of Metro Milwaukee Living through one such hidden gem: the Ozaukee Interurban Trail. Whether you’re walking, running or biking, hit the trail and enjoy some fresh air, exercise and some quaint and fun stops along the way!

 Local Motion

…Come with me as we enjoy and explore the 30 miles of non-motorized, paved trail through Ozaukee County, from the southern edge of Mequon through Port Washington/Belgium! You can enter the trail in any community, but we are beginning our “virtual” bike ride at Local Motion on Washington Avenue in Cedarburg. You can purchase or rent bikes at this friendly and helpful shop, or even have your own repaired here. Park across the street in the free municipal lot and enter the path and cross Cedar Creek as you enjoy your walk or ride through woodlands, wetlands, farmlands and downtown shops. Family and dog friendly, the Interurban Trail is the perfect place to enjoy serenity and exercise, looping right through Cedarburg. When you’ve fully taken in all the trail has to offer, as you head back to your parking spot why not stop in at The Hub, across from Local Motion? This is the perfect place for a post-exercise bite to eat or a thirst-quenching drink.

Any way you choose to use the trail, relax and take in the beautiful, natural surroundings. And stay tuned, because next week we’ll ride through another community together…
