Stay Warm With These Snow-Day Activities
Southeast Wisconsin is currently in the midst of what forecasters are predicting to be a 30-hour snowstorm. As of 1 p.m. today, the average amount of snowfall in the area is at around six inches, and it’s not expected to stop until early Wednesday morning.
Call it Snowmageddon, Snowpacalypse or the Snownami – either way, it’s bad out there. If you must leave your home, please travel safely. Use common sense, plan for travel times to be around twice as long and don’t rush on the roads.
And if you’d rather stay safe inside, you might as well keep yourself busy (and warm!) with some fun, family-friendly snow day activities:
Nothing keeps you feeling quite as cozy as a nice, frothy mug of hot chocolate, so why not forego the pre-packaged stuff and make your very own mix to get you through the long snowstorm.
What goes better with hot chocolate than marshmallows? Creating a snowman-inspired snack is sure to be a hit no matter your age. Click here for the step-by-step guide to making a marshmallow snowman.
Have a snow day movie marathon with your kids. You’re not going anywhere, so you might as well plop down in front of the TV and take in a few snow-day-inspired flicks. Some titles to check out are Jack Frost, Snow Dogs, Snow Buddies and Snow Day, if you want to stay with the cold-weather theme.
Another tried-and-true snow-day favorite is a classic round or two in your favorite board game. A game of Monopoly will pass a couple hours of the day, or go with other old favorites like Scrabble, Uno, Candyland and Life.
