Buffy Godfrey is a real estate agent in Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage’s Mequon office. She was a resident of Cedarburg for 35 years, and today shares with Metro Milwaukee Living why it’s a great community in which to live.
Cedarburg is a vibrant community north of Milwaukee that prides itself on its historic buildings and rich past, yet continues to evolve, attracting families, the arts and tourism.
The community loves to have a good time and hosts three annual festivals. February hosts the Winter Festival with bed races on Cedar Creek, a pancake breakfast, chili contest, charity golf outing (yes, in the snow!), ice sculptures and food and fun for the family. Strawberry Festival usually offers a sunny weekend full of arts, crafts, fresh berries and treats, arts, crafts, music and more. Be sure to take in the beauty of early Fall this weekend, September 19th & 20th at the Wine and Harvest Festival, which boasts a focal farmers market, crafts, food and, of course, wine!
This all-season destination is also a Mecca for outdoor activities, including biking, fishing, walking, golfing, kayaking and arts opportunities. Stroll along the beautiful main street downtown, which boasts many coffee shops, pubs, shops and boutiques. Pride is also evident in the performing arts center and cultural center that host many national and regional acts and artists.
The locals are uniquely responsive, involved, proud and supportive of the community and education. The small pubs, restaurants, galleries, shops and winery along with the ambiance, convenience and lifestyle add to the appeal of Cedarburg. It’s a great weekend destination or place to call home! A true “Norman Rockwell” painting come to life!
