Metro Milwaukee’s Weekend Festival Guide: June 22-24

Tired of being stuck indoors (where the air conditioning is!) this week? Just in time for the weekend, the weather is supposed to cooperate for yet another weekend filled with festival fun! This weekend, you can get in touch with Greek roots, enjoy some local live tunes or stuff your face with a few quarts of strawberries. We’ve got the rundown right here in this installment of the Weekend Festival Guide!

Friday-Sunday

Greek Fest (Wisconsin State Fair Park, north lot), free admission

Say “Opa!” to Greek Fest! Celebrate Greek culture with traditional dancing, Greek music and especially delicious Greek cuisine. Enjoy a Friday night fish fry, gyros, chicken, pastiche, baklava and sweet pastries like the addicting loukoumathes (fried dough balls drizzled with honey).

Where: Wisconsin State Fair Park

When: Friday and Saturday 11am-11pm. Sunday 11am-10pm.

Saturday

Summer Soulstice (Milwaukee’s East Side)

Head over to North Avenue on Milwaukee’s East Side for a celebration of the official kick off to summer. Enjoy a day packed with great local bands on three different stages, tasty street food and more! Be sure to bring the family over to the brand-new Murray Avenue family stage to see Bernie Brewer and his Racing Sausages pals, as well as jugglers, balloon artists and face painting!

Where: Milwaukee’s East Side on North Ave, between North Oakland and N Prospect.

When: June 23rd, noon to midnight

Saturday-Sunday

The Cedarburg Strawberry Festival (Downtown Cedarburg),

Arguably summer’s favorite fruit is placed on a pedestal at the 27th annual Cedarburg Strawberry Festival. You can find the guest of honor chocolate-dipped, frozen into ice cream, sweetened up as candy and liquefied as wine. Or, you can just purchase strawberries just as they are by the quart. As you revel in their juicy goodness, take a stroll through charming Downtown Cedarburg as you take in art exhibitions, live music all weekend, strawberry cooking demonstrations and even strawberry-treat eating contests!

Prepare for indulging in so many tasty treats by participating in the Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Ozaukee County “Berry Big” 5k run/walk at 9am on Saturday, and then feel guilt-free about anything that may find itself in your tummy after.

When: Saturday, June 23 10am-6pm. Sunday, June 24, 10am-5pm
