Metro Milwaukee’s Weekend Festivals Preview: June 1-3

Welcome to the first edition of the Weekend Festivals Preview for 2012! The first weekend in June usually signifies the beginning of festival season in the Metro Milwaukee area, and this weekend is packed full of festival fun. Whether you’ve got a peg leg or Scottish roots, you can be sure to find a community event that’s right for you.


Port Pirate Fest (Port Washington)

Music, mayhem, merriment and, of course, pirates, invade the Port Washington lakefront. With invasions, a gruel galley, a buccaneer bash, thieves marketplace, children’s activities, demonstrations, a parade, fireworks, and even a pirate ship – there is something to do for pirates big and small. Grab your eye patch and come on down.

When: Friday 6pm-11pm, Saturday 10am-11pm, Sunday 10am-6pm

Milwaukee Highland Games/Scottish Fest (Wauwatosa)

Enjoy bagpipe bands, Scottish foods, Celtic -themed shopping, Highland dancing and unique athletic events.

Where: Hart Park, Wauwatosa

When: Saturday, June 2nd: 9am-10pm

How Much?:$10 adults/Children under 12: free, active military in uniform: free, $3 off before 10 a.m. with a per person donation of non-perishable food item to the Second Harvest Food Bank of Milwaukee.

Beer Barons of Milwaukee Annual World of Beer Festival (Menomonee Falls)

A beer festival by beer nuts, for beer nuts! Milwaukee’s premier festival celebrating beer and brewing. The festival includes a tasting of an extensive lineup of beers from both area breweries and breweries throughout the world. Taste more than 200 beers from around the world including rare and limited-availability beers that will be served as special releases. In addition to the commercial beers, several homebrewed beers will be available for sampling. Music by The Squeezettes!

Where: Schwabenhof Pavilion: W14750 Silver Spring Dr, Menomonee Falls

When: Saturday, June 2nd: 1-5pm

How Much?: $40 advance purchase includes a commemorative glass; $60 VIP admission includes additional limited beers & tasting boot; free admission for designated drivers.
