Moving into a new home brings with it a lot of emotions, particularly for families moving with children. Excitement and enthusiasm are coupled with anxiety and apprehension as to whether the kids will take to the new home and neighborhood. Carefully preparing children for the move, both practically and psychologically, can help ease the transition and make the process much smoother for the family.
Moving is stressful for anyone, but it can be unsettling for children. Create a moving list or game plan well in advance to ensure that children are ready for the big day.
Sunday marks the start of Daylight Saving Time (commonly mispronounced as “Daylight Savings Time,” with an “s”), meaning we will all need to “spring forward” and set our clocks ahead one hour at 2:00 A.M. Sunday (or Saturday night).
Don’t forget to turn all your clocks and watches forward one hour (cell phones and digital TV boxes should automatically set back on their own).
A few fun facts about Daylight Saving Time*:

See you on Sunday!
The first snowfall of this winter broke my shovel. It was a heavy, wet snow that seemingly froze once it settled onto the ground. The plows went through the street and added to the heavy, icy snow at the end of the driveway. The snow/ice was stuck to the pavement, so I decided to try and break it by taking repeated stabs at it with my shovel…And that was the last snowfall my shovel ever saw.
With the official start of winter today, December 21st, chances are you might grab a blanket and cuddle up by the fireplace to stay warm these next few months. Before doing this, however, it is important to schedule your annual chimney sweep and inspection, especially if you own a wood burning fireplace.
